Andrew Chinn visit to SHU

On Thursday 23rd October, our school was privileged to host Australian religious songwriter and singer, Andrew Chinn. Students took part in engaging music workshops where Andrew shared some of his well-loved songs, including These Hands, Rainbow, Africa Blessing, and Rise Up. These songs are regularly used in our classrooms and liturgies, and are sung in schools across Australia.

After the workshops, Andrew and the students came together to perform a joyful concert for the whole school. It was a wonderful celebration filled with singing, laughter, and fun!

Staff and students spoke very highly of the experience. Everyone joined in and celebrated our Catholic faith through the power of music.

Andrew Chinn: Biography

• Was a teacher for 20 years in Catholic schools in Sydney, teaching all grades from Kindergarten to Year 6
• Has released 15 albums, 6 picture books, and has an online resource for teachers
• His music is used in schools across Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Ireland and has visited nearlt 1200 different schools around those countries
• Lives in Wollongong with his wife, Bernadette and a couple of Shetland Sheepdogs called Mollee and Elbee, who love going to the beach
• He has four daughters and TEN grandchildren!
• He is a proud Illawarra Hwaks, Sydney Swans and Brisbane Broncos supporter
